Hi. How can we help?

Setting up the Zebra DS2200 series barcode scanner

The Zebra DS2200 series of barcode scanners have a corded (DS2208) and a cordless (DS2278) model.  Both models are compatible with 1D and 2D barcodes. To set them up and start scanning items, they require little to no assembly. They simply need to be connected to a USB port on your computer.

  • Zebra DS2208 (corded model)

To set up the Zebra DS2208 barcode scanner, you will need:

    • Barcode scanner
    • USB cable
    • Cradle (optional)

    To set it up:

      1. Connect the USB cable to the base of your scanner. DS2208-barcode-scanner.jpeg
      2. Connect the barcode scanner to a USB port on your computer.DS2208-barcode-scanner-USB.jpeg

      Note

If you are connecting the scanner to a Mac and you see a Keyboard Setup Assistant pop-up, do not click continue. Click the red X in the upper left-hand corner to cancel the pop-up.

    3. Enable an automatic carriage return after a scan by scanning the barcode below (also found in the Quick Start Guide packaged with your scanner): automatic-carriage-scanner-ds2208.png

    4. From the main menu in Retail POS (X-Series), navigate to Sell > Sell.

    5. Scan a product into the Search for products field.

If the item you scanned appears, well done! Your scanner is now officially set up. The scanner will continue to function this way as long as the computer it's connected to is powered on.

You can also rest your barcode scanner in its cradle when not in use if the cradle was included in your bundle or if you have purchased one separately.

The Zebra DS278 barcode scanner communicates to its cradle via Bluetooth. This is what gives it its cordless functionality. Its cradle is then connected to a USB port on your computer so it can communicate with your Retail POS account and charge.

Before using the Zebra DS2278 barcode scanner in your shop, we recommend resting it in its cradle until it's fully charged. To indicate that it's charging, the cradle's LED light will turn amber and start blinking. Once it's fully charged, it will turn green and become solid.

    2. Once charged, unplug your scanner from the Micro USB connector and scan the general discoverable mode barcode. This will allow your scanner to pair with your computer through Bluetooth.  DS2278-without-cradle-barcode-bluetooth.png
