Vend is the system of record
Once your Vend and BigCommerce accounts are connected, Vend becomes the system of record for all product and inventory information, while BigCommerce offers a beautiful storefront experience. This is a term used to describe the authoritative source for data in connections/systems that may contain multiple sources of the same data. To ensure data integrity, there must be only one system of record, which in this case, is Vend.
Make product changes in Vend
Because of this, if you ever wish to make changes to your linked products, this will need to be completed in Vend. Any changes/updates to products in Vend will force them to update in BigCommerce also.
Vend will push over any changes for linked products when:
- A product is saved in the edit product page
- A product CSV is imported
- A product is sold
- A refund or exchange is done on Vend
- An inventory count, stock order, stock transfer or stock adjustment is completed
Vend pushes over all product data whenever a change occurs
Vend will push over all product information whenever an update/change is made. An example of this is if you have set up formatted descriptions in BigCommerce for Product A but there are no descriptions in Vend. If you make any changes to Product A within Vend, like changing the price or name, it will push the updates to BigCommerce including the empty Vend description which will overwrite the formatted BigCommerce description.
What can be managed in BigCommerce
If you wish to make edits to your products in BigCommerce, these are the nine things that can be edited in BigCommerce without breaking the link with Vend:
- Images*
- Weight
- Sizing including Width, Height, Depth
- MSRP (Retail Price)
- Sale Price

- SEO
- Custom fields
* Vend will push images on initial publish, but never after. For products that are linked, manage images on BigCommerce.
