How to pair your Pax A920 and A80 with Retail POS (X-Series)

Setup

  • Retail POS for Mac or PC
  • Retail POS app on iPad
  • Pax A920 and A80

Steps

  • Create the payment type in Retail POS

    1. Click Setup in Retail POS.

    2. Click Payment types.

    3. Click the Add Payment Type button.

    4. Search for and select your payment processor. If your payment processor is not displayed use Retail POS Payments Gateway.

    Note: Please contact Support if the required payment type or gateway is not available to you.

    5. Click Begin Setup.

    6. Enter a name for the payment type (e.g. Credit/Debit).

    7. Click Save Payment Type.

    Get the terminal ready to pair

    1. Connect the terminal to power and turn the terminal on.

    2. Connect the terminal to your network using an Ethernet cable or WiFi by following this guide here.

    3. On the terminal idle screen open the Vend by Lightspeed (VendHQ) app. If the app is not on the Pax terminal, download the Vend by Lightspeed (VendHQ) app from the Pax Store. 

    4. If the terminal is connected to a network it should state "Connected" at the bottom of the Retail POS app screen.

    IMPORTANT:  The Vend by Lightspeed (VendHQ) app must always be open to process integrated payments. It can run in the background or you can leave it as the main app screen on the terminal. 

    Connect the terminal to Retail POS

    1. Click the payment type that was just created to edit and pair the terminal.

    2. Scroll down and click Pair a Terminal.

    3. Enter the Serial Number on the terminal and choose the register you want to pair the terminal to and select Pair Register.

    4. Once you select save, you will then see the terminal serial number and the register it is paired to.

    Additional Information

    • Each terminal can only be paired with one Retail POS Register at a time
    • Repeat the above process for each terminal you need to connect
    • Multiple payment terminals can be paired under a single payment type
    • If multiple outlets are associated with the account select which Retail POS outlet the payment type should be visible on.

  • Create the payment type in Retail POS

    1. Tap the Menu button and select Dashboard.

    2. Tap the second Menu button and select Setup.

    3. Tap the second Menu button again and select Payment Types.

    4. Click the Add Payment Type button.

    5. Search for and select your payment processor.

    Note: Please contact Support if the required payment type is not available to you.
