The BigCommerce Integration - How does it work, and how do I set it up?

BigComm_Breakout_Main_Image.png

The Vend-BigCommerce integration shares product, inventory, customer and sales information between both systems, simplifying daily operations by saving time on manual admin and double-entry. Information is kept up-to-date between your online and brick-and-mortar stores, so you can be confident that you will only sell stock you have.

  Important

  • Once your Vend and BigCommerce accounts are connected, Vend becomes the system of record.
  • You should manage your product catalogue, pricing and inventory information in Vend to ensure everything stays accurate and up-to-date.
  • BigCommerce feeds important information back to Vend such as online sales, new customer or existing customer information associated with a sale, and inventory from a sale to keep stock levels in sync.
  • Please click the following link for more on how to use the BigCommerce integration!

I'm new to BigCommerce

If you are new to BigCommerce, you can create a BigCommerce account directly in Vend and add it to your existing Vend subscription, so both payments are in one, easy location!

To begin creating a BigCommerce account and connecting it to your Vend store, follow the steps below:

1. In Vend, navigate to Setup and click Apps

2. Locate the BigCommerce app and click Connect to Vend.

3. Here you will need to create a new Register to record BigCommerce sales separately from your in-store purchases. To learn how to set up a new register, click here.

  Tip

While adding a new register typically incurs an additional cost, Vend offers a complementary register for e-Commerce integration use.

To claim and enable yours, please contact the support team via email by clicking the button below, and message the support team saying "complementary e-Commerce register":

4. Next, you will need to create a new Payment Type to record BigCommerce payments separately so you will be able to distinguish what is being sold online and what is being sold to in-store. To learn how to set up a new payment type, click here.

5. Select No, I don't have an account. and click Begin Setup to create a new BigCommerce account.

  Important

In order to proceed with creating a BigCommerce account through Vend, you will need to have activated your Vend account and added a credit card for billing.

If you have yet to complete either of these steps, follow the prompts that open.

It's also important to note that adding a credit card to a Vend Trial account and continuing to activate a BigCommerce account will also activate the Vend account (as seen in step 9).

Things to check before integrating

  • For Vend users, the BigCommerce integration is only available on the Pro or Enterprise plan of our latest pricing. If you’re on the Lite plan, you’ll need to upgrade to connect your Vend store to BigCommerce.
  • You will need your store URL and your login credentials to set up the Vend-BigCommerce integration.
  • Make sure you have set up all the products you need before activating the Integration. If you have products on both platforms, make sure their SKUs match.
  • We recommend you take a back-up of any product data in either system before you begin. You can export your Vend products on the Product page and you can export your BigCommerce products on their Product page.
  • Any third-party BigCommerce app that changes your prices or SKUs will cause problems. Please test this thoroughly before switching on another integration to your BigCommerce store when linked with Vend.
  • We recommend creating a separate payment type just for BigCommerce orders.
  • We recommend setting up a new register in Vend in the outlet you want to link to BigCommerce. This is because sales made in BigCommerce after you close your store’s register for the day will re-open the register. Setting up a separate register ensures all your reporting is clear.
