Why exchanging an item on a Layby did not update the inventory?

Question

Why exchanging a product on a Layby sale did not return the exchanged item back to my stock?

Setup

  •  Vend for Mac or PC

Answer

When you exchange an item on a Layby, the returned product will be put back to the stock whenever the Layby sale is completed. If the sale is still open, the returned items will be showing in a Layby state in the Inventory Movements View:

Only completing the sale will move the exchanged items from the Layby state back to the Outlet's stock.
