Setting up your Epson TM-T88V/TM-T88VI (Ethernet) for PC, Mac or iPad

  Important

Updating to iOS 14+ on iPad will prompt you to grant the Retail POS app permissions to access Bluetooth and Local Network settings on your iPad.

If declined, this will cause your printer to no longer function. To fix this, ensure that Bluetooth and Local Network Permissions are enabled in Settings > Lightspeed Retail POS (X) on your device.

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on installing an Epson TM-T88V and TM-T88VI receipt printers for Mac, PC or iPad. Select your device below and follow the instructions that follow.

Device checklist:

In order to set up your receipt printer with your PC, Mac, or iPad, you'll first need to make sure you have all the peripherals needed.

Cables:

You will need a power cable for the printer and an ethernet cable to plug the printer into your internet router. If you don't already have an ethernet cable ask your printer supplier to include one when you buy the printer or pick one up from your local electronics store.

Receipt Rolls:

Make sure you have 80mm receipt rolls. To load your receipt roll open the latch on the top right of the printer, place the roll inside, and pull some of the paper through before closing the lid.

Cash drawer (optional):

You may also wish to set up your cash drawer at the same time, to do this you'll need a specialized cash drawer cable (RJ12). This is similar looking to an ethernet cable but is smaller on one end.

Configure DHCP

When you first buy an Epson printer, it won't be able to connect to your network. To set up network capability, you'll first need to change the network settings by configuring DHCP.

This process is technical, so we recommend speaking with your IT support person for help if required.

Follow the instructions in our Enable DHCP for your Epson TM-T88V Printer guide to set up DHCP.

Once DHCP has been configured, you'll need to print out the printer's IP address. To do this, turn the printer off, press and hold the Feed button, turn the printer on, and continue to hold the Feed button. The printer will print out the network settings and you should see the IP address listed.

  Note

If the IP address on the settings receipt says "NONE", the printer is not connected to the internet. Double check that the ethernet cable is connected securely to both the back of the printer and to the router and then press and hold the Feed button again.

Once we have this we can then connect the printer to your computer.

Downloading and installing the Epson driver

1. Download the latest printer drivers for your computer. This is specialized software that allows the printer to run correctly on your computer. To download the driver for the TM-T88V/TM-T88VI, go to Epson's website here and select either TM-T88V or TM-T88VI.

2. Next, head to your Devices and Printers window on your computer.

  Tip

If you want your cash drawer to fire before the receipt prints you can select the Start of Document option instead.

5. Apply these settings and test the cash drawer by printing a receipt from the Sales history (Sell -> Sales history)
